PUSH Dance Company (popular name: PUSH) is a professional dance group based in San Francisco, which specializes in performance, touring, presenting and dance education. Founded in 2005, the Company’s mission is to build vibrant contemporary dances to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges attributed to mixed heritage. As a contemporary dance company, the group has garnered a national-touring reputation for exploring little known or unheard voices from marginalized communities. Each year, the Company host PUSHfest, a dance festival showcasing emerging to midcareer choreographers from different dance genres.
ABOUT THE OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
The Operations Coordinator is a newly created opportunity for the right candidate to build upon the already organized design of the organization’s administrative goals. The position will integrate the initiatives of the overall team with duties that include, but are not limited to: managing the festival production, overseeing the success of artistic project activities, coordinating education initiatives; and building and maintaining community relationships. The Operations Coordinator ensures the administrative success and groundwork to develop and implement the Company’s values and goals.The goal of the Operations Coordinator is to increase festival and project productivity and class offerings for students through sustainable administrative models.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to general office duties, the role includes:
SERVICE AND COMMUNICATIONS (25%)
Display proper writing and verbal etiquette
Demonstrate positive and supportive telephone, email and in-person communication with patrons, artists and stakeholders. Assume accountability for the success of the organization’s goals and privacy; and exhibits teamwork skills. Show sensitivity and life experience to different socio-economic and cultural groups. Develop and implement proper communication to various constituents and distribution of that information. Work with existing administrative tools including Google, Adobe Creative Suite, ticketing and donor systems, etc. Monitor and oversee prospective festival and educational participants.
OPERATIONS AND STRATEGIC PLAN (25%)
Work to make sure the mission and planning are being fulfilled.
Oversee project activities, educational initiatives, short term and long term goals. Ability to understand and navigate complex written and oral instructions, procedures, and protocols. Organize meetings, schedule calendar dates, and follow up with meetings to ensure team success. Find and coordinate volunteers and interns. Track projects from start-to-end including note-taking, work hours, budgets, and expenditures. Ensure patrons and artists are steered towards the best positive solutions. Demonstrate effective time management and skills to not only meet deadlines but set effective project completion goals.
DEVELOPMENT AND DONOR RELATIONS (25%)
Build positive donor and funder relations.
Oversee grant and donor initiatives including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements. Communicate the organization’s goals and implement grant management. Gather and input data needed to complete reporting on technological databases. Ensure grants are implemented according to the operational and financial needs of the organization. Implement and distribute fundraising collateral to the team and ensure collaboration for donor growth initiatives. Keep team members informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities.
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND REPORTING (25%)
Knowledge of decompression phases of projects and initiatives
Collaborate with the financial adviser, tax preparer and bookkeeper to generate financial reports for the Board of Directors. Schedule and provide administrative support for board meetings. Work with the Artistic Director to draft proposals, sign contracts, and other resources on behalf of the Company.
- A bachelor’s degree or subsequent experience
- Non-profit management experience
- Solid typing and decision-making skills
- Strong ability to communicate deadlines and delegate
- Accountability for project outcomes
- Strong written and communication skills
- Ability to prepare budgets and project timelines
- Strong Computer Skills
- Microsoft Office/Google Cloud document sharing suites
- Adobe, iMovie and Dropbox and other multimedia programs
- Social Media and willingness to promote organization on personal accounts
- Database updating and creations experience including analytical and marketing tools
