“An artist’s duty is to reflect the times,” Nina Simone

Born out of the protest over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Elijah Cummings, and countless others, the movement raises money to assist Black-led dance groups and Black individuals to respond to current times. As we navigate the economic downturn attributed to COVID-19, we also are making space for healing caused by police violence and centuries of systemic racism.

PUSH Dance Company was founded in 2005. We intend to collect and distribute funds for groups and individuals working in the African diaspora on a first come – first serve basis. The PUSH for campaign acknowledges the invisible work and continuous contributions Black people have made to the cultural landscape of American dance. We aim to provide financial support to promote the growth and longevity of Black dance in the SF Bay Area.
