Performance Workshop

PUSHLab

PUSHLab Performance Workshop is the educational component of PUSHfest. Dancers explore technique and new choreography by artists from PUSH Dance Company and guest choreographers. The lab includes detailed feedback sessions on quality of performance for performers, showings, and critical feedback and mentorship for choreographers in a supportive environment.

PUSHfest brings together a wide variety of professional companies and artists together. Past PUSHLab participants have gone on to perform with Robert Moses Kin, Garrett Moulton Productions, PUSH Dance Company, Visceral Roots Dance Company and many more.

Do I have to audition for PUSHLab?

You do not have to audition for PUSHLab, however we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to audition for discounts or the Company.

When can I register for PUSHLab?

The registration period typically takes place 1-3 months in advance. There are no drop-ins for PUSHLab. All participants make a commitment to attend all sessions, technical rehearsals and performances.

How often does PUSHLab take place?

Most PUSHLabs happen in the fall. However, on rare occasion, there are workshops in the spring.

Auditions take place 2-3 weeks before the session.

What is the Apprentice Program?

PUSHLab Apprentice Program is a seasonal commitment. Dancers selected for this program must attend all PUSH Dance Company rehearsals and performances in addition to PUSHLab commitments.

Is there a dress code or code of conduct?

This program requires participants to conduct themselves in a professional manner demonstrating a passion for creative thinking and fostering of a supportive learning environment. The missing of classes, technical rehearsals and/or performances is not permitted. The goal of PUSHLab is to cultivate the growth of future leaders and representatives in the dance community.

You’re welcome to wear what’s comfortable but highly suggest attire that is conducive to learning.
