Bio
Carmen Crockett dances an array of styles such as Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hula, and Hip-Hop with over 30 years of experience. Her passion for dance started as a young girl, performing as an Oakland High Stepper and a high school cheerleader. In more recent years, she professionally danced and choreographed for Visceral Roots Dance Company at many Bay Area events, such as the Black Choreographer’s Festival. She also co-led a performance workshop for the 2025 Juneteenth event at Shawl Anderson. She performed with AFTA Shock Oakland throughout the Bay Area and toured to Chicago. She spent 4 seasons performing on the NBA Warriors Hardwood Classic dance team and worked with prominent choreographers. She traveled with America’s Golden Dream Dancers, performing in Disneyland, Disney World, and on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She is the co-founder of SASS (Silver and Sensational Squad) and helped direct opportunities to choreograph and perform throughout the Bay Area. Currently, she dances with Dance Generators and in January 2026 performed in a week long tour in Los Angeles. She enjoys working with intergenerational dancers and is excited to be leading her own classes and performance workshops at this time in her career while continuing to spread her love for dance.
