All-levels Dance Workshop with PUSH

Saturday, June 1, 2019, $15

PUSH TECHNIQUE draws upon the body as a mechanism to create flow, groove and dynamic movement. Each class is designed to accentuate the curvature of the spin. Pupils will move through the warmup, footwork & core exercises in order to deepen sense of our relations to force; while across-the-floor movement will form agility and dynamic pathways. The class expands upon Western Modern Dance techniques by adding African-derived movement and musicality. This technique builds phrase work inspired by precision and effortless fluidity.

This workshop is open to the community and all dancers of all abilities. Young dancers who can follow instruction and maintain control of themselves are welcome.

Studio Demo + Q & A with PUSH Dance

Join PUSH in an informal demonstration followed by a question and answer period in the open studio at The Launchpad. PUSH will show some of their work in progress as part of their full-length piece, Codelining, which will be performed in its entirety on June 7th at the 11th Annual Aspen Fringe Festival.

A post-show discussion and informal interactive talk will be provided in order to contextualize and bring insight into PUSH’s performance process. Discussions share methodologies, challenges, and social concepts PUSH tackles in its rehearsal process.
